Mysore, May 11: An Andhra Pradesh College Principal, in his mid 40s, who is alleged to have kidnapped his 17-year-old minor girl student, is suspected to be hiding in city.

The Andhra Police, acting on a tip off, have begun an intensive search operation in the city for the accused and the kidnapped girl student.

The Andhra Police informed Star of Mysore that Venkatiah, Principal of CLR College, Telakapalli in Mehboob Nagar District of Andhra Pradesh, after kidnapping the girl student Shobharani, a second PU student studying in the same college, has been staying in the city since then.

The team of AP Police headed by Sub-Inspector Venkateswaralu continued the search in city lodges today also along with the Principal's colleagues.

They also visited Chamundi Hill and Zoo looking for the Principal and the girl.

Following information from an autorikshaw driver that a man and a girl resembling them checked into a lodge behind Lashkar Police Station, they visited the lodge where the room was locked.

The Police came to know from the autodriver that the man had told him that the girl would attend an interview at RBI Note Press today.

Following this, the Police team visited the Note Press too and verified the list of candidates who are being interviewed for Constable posts. They, however, did not find Shobharani.

The Police will continue to visit some other tourist spots in and around the city.

The incident

Shobharani is the daughter of Police Constable M Nageshaji, attached to Telakapalli Police Station. Shobharani, who is considered as a bright student of the college, joined the tuition classes run by the college Principal Venkataiah in his house.

As Shobharani frequented his house, Venakataiah befriended her. Venkataiah who served as Principal of the College for 10 years was teaching English , informed the Police sources.

Venkataiah kidnapped Shobharani from Telakapalli on May 1 soon after the exams were over and brought her to Bangalore on May 2.

Shobharani's father Nageshaji, who was deeply concerned when he found his daughter missing, enquired in the college and even questioned her class mates. After getting suspicious that the Principal Venktaiah himself has kidnapped his daughter, Nageshaji filed a complaint in Telakapalli Police Station on May 3.

Nageshaji, in his complaint, has alleged that Venktaiah had kidnapped his innocent minor daughter Shobharani, who is the youngest of his three daughters.

Acting on the complaint, the Telakapalli PSI Venkateshwarulu went in pursuit of the absconding Venkataiah. The other lecturers of the college too have accompanied the Policemen in their search for Venkataiah who is understood to have first come to Bangalore and later to Mysore on the afternoon of May 9. He is now suspected to be staying in a city lodge along with the kidnapped girl. PSI Venkateshwarulu, who arrived in the city from Bangalore yesterday night, lodged a complaint with Devaraja Police in this regard, following which the Police have begun an intensive search in the lodges, halls, bus and railway stations here.

Those who find them may immediately contact Mysore Police Control Room on Ph: 2418339, Devaraj Police Station on 2418106 and Andhra PSI Venkateswarulu on 09441740994.

Venkataiah, who is known in the college as a good English lecturer, had married one Padma (35), a resident of Telakapalli, about 15 years ago. Padma is serving as a nurse in a local private residential school.

As the couple went childless even after 15 years of marriage, frequent quarrels used to break out between the two. Venkataiah later befriended Shobharani who frequented his house for tuition, Police sources said.

Its a shame on an educated elderly person to do such a shameful act. If he really wanted a child he could have given life to a child from an asharam,it is sure that child will be grateful all its life more than ones own offspring. He should be punished severely.

Why to blame on the Principal???? even if the girl is just 17 years, she is not a baby, she could inform her father about the relation. But then if she has not informed that means she was also interested in the same relation. THEN WHY BLAME ONLY THE PRINCIPAL. WE CAN'T CLAP IN ONE HAND Dear Police Constable M Nageshaji, your daughter is equally wrong.
