Mumbai, Jun 17: The Maharashtra State Road and Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has floated tenders to invite bids in an attempt to purchase e-buses on a wet lease.
According to sources, a total of 100 airconditioned e-buses are expected to be procured by the corporation by the end of the year. Special charging stations will be set up at MSRTC depots for these buses.
Ranjit Singh Deol, managing director of MSRTC, said, “We are keen to run these airconditioned e-buses, which will be on several intercity routes across Maharastra – Few of them being Mumbai – Pune and Pune- Nashik corridors.”
Sources further suggested that e-charging stations are also going to be set up along the Mumbai – Pune Expressway as well as other common state highways by the state government.
Additionally, MSEDCL, which is the state-run power utility firm, will be providing the charging points at their substation and offices located close to highways. The Pune Expressway is expected to have six such stations.
