New Delhi, Jun 19: Traffic safety is one of the most important matters to be considered as a responsible citizen. The increasing number of deaths by accidents is alarming. A traffic cop has taken to the web to educate people over traffic safety. Sandeep Shahi, a head constable in Delhi traffic police is lately going viral for his art of rapping.

Sandeep is on the news for his creative handling of riders. Apart from rapping, he apparently gifts helmets to those who do not have one. Over 700 helmets have been circulated by Sandeep himself and he is said to purchase the helmets with his own money.

Sandeep’s rap has drawn inspiration from the Ranveer Singh song ‘Apna time Aayega’ from the movie Gully boy. His rap goes something like this; “Humse na ho payega, kaun bola? Sadak ki, suraksha ki, jeevan ki raksha ki, helmet ki, seatbelt ki niyam agar apnayega, jeevan khushaal ban jaayega. Baat meri maan, suraksha ko jaan. Tera time aayega. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”

He is also seen holding placards which urges people to buy only ISI certified helmets. For Sandeep, this incessant need for people to follow traffic rules comes from a very personal place. After losing his wife in an accident, the casual approach that the present generation have toward their own safety is unnerving to this cop. According to him, for a prolonged life, knowledge of road safety and rules is vital.

He has admitted that he wrote a rap to connect with the youth, speaking in a language they would understand. He aims at imparting them a lesson on traffic safety and regulations.
