Poet Arthur Pereira’s Debut Konkani Music Album ‘Taram’ in Stores Soon

Mangalore, May 13: The year 2009 is proving a good one for Konkani music as many music albums are hitting the stands at regular intervals.
The newest one set to hit the market is ‘Taram’ by Dubai-based Arthur Pereira, young and emerging poet hailing from Omzoor.
Arthur is already known to Konkani poetry lovers worldwide for his thought-provoking poems published on websites and in the print media. His maiden album ‘Taram’ is being brought out by his own Maa’s Creations.
In the city for recording and marketing, Arthur said he had penned all the songs in the album with Vijay Noronha, known as ‘Viju’ from Vamanjoor setting them to tune and young and talented Roshan D'Souza Anjelore providing the music for it.
“I have tried to bring some new themes to Konkani music. My album will be different from others and I hope it will be liked by all. I have not tried to imitate anyone, but composed the best lyrics supported by great tunes by my friend Viju”, says Arthur who pens poems and articles not only in Konkani but also in Kannada.
He has received an award for his writings in Kannada recently, and his Konkani poems have also been recognized by various publications.
The album comprises 10 songs sung by various artistes including Dr Prashant Raj, one of the nominees for best male singer at the recent Konkani Global Awards, Konkani ‘Dream Boy’ from Kuwait Rony D’Cunha, Ivy D’Souza, little sensation Yash Pinto from Dubai, Prakash from Bajpe, Felix, Preema and Robin.
The album has been recorded at Sandesha with sound engineer and musician Ashit Pinto supervising the recording.
‘Taram’ will be released in Mangalore at Sandesha on Sunday May 17 at 10.00 am.
Eric Ozario, former president, Konkani Sahitya Academi and Mandd Sobhann Gurkar, will be present along with guests for the event Richard Castelino, film director, and Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld.com.
Fr Vijay Lobo of Canara Communication will bless the album during the programme.
