Mumbai, Jun 20: Facebook literally turned into ‘face’ ‘book’ when it aided the police in recognising a man accused of snatching a gold chain from a woman on May 25 in Chembur.
Along with local intelligence and CCTV footage, police used the Facebook profile picture to track him down.
Thanks to the profile picture on social media network, the accused was identified as 26-year-old Mohammad Ashraf. He was arrested from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus while attempting to flee to Darbhanga, his native place, in Bihar.
The police stated that the gold necklace was returned to the woman on Monday when Ashraf was arrested.
