Google doodle honors Bollywood’s iconic villain Amrish Puri on his 87th birthday

New Delhi, Jun 22: Amrish Puri, the most iconic villain of Bollywood gets a remarkable tribute from Google Doodle on his 87th birth anniversary. Amarish Lal Puri was born in Punjab on June 22, 1932 and got a break at the age of 39 and went on to act in over 400 movies. Puri acted in Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Hollywood, Punjabi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films.

He portrayed various iconic characters and mesmerized movie lovers with his intimidating villain roles in Indian Cinema. His role as Mogambo in Mr India is still fresh in the minds of movie lovers.

Pune-based guest artist Debangshu Moulik designed the doodle that features an amazing sketch of the actor on orange and yellow hues.

Google, in its post, said "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again-and you might end up like Indian film actor Amrish Puri, who overcame an early setback on the way to fulfilling his big screen dreams."

Some of the unforgettable characters of the legendary actor include Chaudhry Baldev Singh in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mirza Khan in Kala Pani, Thakur Durjan Singh in Karan Arjun, Mayor Ashraf Ali in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Chief Minister Balraj Chauhan in Nayak: The Real Hero.

He passed away on January 12, 2005 at the age of 72, due to cerebral hemorrhage.
