Panaji, May 15: The results for both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa expected to be declared by 11.30 a.m., said a senior election officer.
Chief Electoral Officer Ajit Srivastava told a press conference this evening that the counting for the approximately 5.5 lakh votes will begin at 8.30 at two different counting centres one in North and another in South.
Srivastava said that the counting for all the 40 assembly constituencies which are comprised in two Lok Sabha constituencies would be wound in three to four phases.
He said that the first trends would start coming within one hour of the counting process.
Taking no chances, the election officials have asked the counting staff to be present at the centres at 5 a.m. following which randomizing process would begin where the personnel would be shuffled about.
The CEO said that the entire process would be under videographic surveillance.
In North Goa, BJP has locked horns with NCP. Two times MP Sripad Naik (BJP) will be contesting against Jitendra Deshprabhu of NCP.
In south Goa, sitting MP Fransisco Sardinha (Congress) will fight against first time contender narendra Savaikar (BJP).
