Mumbai, Jun 26: Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Tuesday refuted opposition’s allegation on the state government that it has altered the economic data to provide a rosy picture of the troubled economy.
In reply to the discussions on the budget speech, the finance minister dismissed concerns raised by the opposition regarding the accuracy of the state’s economic data and disapproved the claims of jobless growth in the economy.
Responding to the allegations raised by the opposition, Mungantiwar also said that he has asked his department to publish a number of annual investments and jobs generated since 2000 and claimed that direct investment of Rs 3.51 lac crore could be attracted during the five years of BJP rule in the state as compared to Rs 1.79 lac crore investments during the previous Congress-led regime.
The first day of discussions of the state’s budget for 2019-20 was held on Tuesday. During the budget speech, the finance minister also announced that the farm loan waiver scheme will be implemented within a month and the coverage of the scheme will focus on marginal farmers who were earlier left out due to technical hurdles.
