Amaravati, Jun 26: ‘Praja Vedike’, the conference hall built at a cost of Rs 8 crore by the previous government led by Chandrababu Naidu, was demolished after the Andhra High Court turned down a late night plea and adjourned the hearing by two weeks.
Demolition started yesterday late night and news agency ANI tweeted the news and posted the demolition video. Chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday had ordered the demolition and said the building was 'Illegal' and all such structures will be destroyed. All the constructions which have come up on the banks of the river in violation of various legislation and rules would be demolished, he added.

The structure was built next to the residence of Naidu when he was chief minister in 2017. Reacting to the news, Chandrababu Naidu said, "Many statues do not have permission and stand on unauthorised land." He questioned if Jagan Reddy was planning to pull down statues of his father and former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Telugu Desam Party has termed the demolition ‘vendetta politics’.
