'There is a limit of arrogance', Modi to Congress for questioning voters over BJP victory

New Delhi, Jun 26: On Wednesday, Congress was accused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of insulting voters of the country by questioning the victory of the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls.

Modi suggested that by questioning the mandate of the people, the opposition party has put workers in the dock. He initiated this scathing attack in response to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha.

Modi said, “After such a big mandate, you say you (BJP) have won, but the country has lost....If the Congress loses, does the country get defeated? Does Congress mean the country and country mean Congress? There is a limit of arrogance.”

The Prime Minister further accused the Congress of hurting voters of the country by using such language.

Based on the arguments made by the Congress party, Modi wondered if the Congress’ victory in Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats too were 'defeat of the country'.

He said, “Due to narrow mindedness and perversity of thoughts if some people do not accept mandate of the people by saying 'you may have won the election, but the country has lost', there can be nothing more insulting for our democracy than this.”

Modi suggested that the Congress should 'accept defeat' considering that they were unable to secure a single Lok Sabha seat in 17 states.

Congress was also attacked by the Prime Minister for questioning the globally lauded EVMs.
