Diamond jubilee celebration, installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Udupi-Manipal held

Udupi, Jun 29: Installation ceremony of 2019-20 Rotary Club of Udupi-Manipal and its diamond jubilee celebration was held at Town hall Ajjarkad here on Friday, June 28.

Past RI president Rtn Kalyan Banerjee inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Kalyan Banarjee said, “It is gives pleasure for me to be back in Manipal exactly after 10 years. Rotary is growing with its values and it also changed with time to keep ahead of us all to keep up with time. Rotary is not about power, it is not about position, it is about service and doing whatever we can.

“Rotary is about serving others, being friends, connecting community, discovering new ways to serve and work. It is indeed that Rotary is becoming youthful. We are looking at young potential members, who have a burning desire to move ahead faster and to take up Rotary as model. In this new age of mass communication, it will help create a new world for tomorrow. In the new age, women are also marching ahead, competing with men and usually doing better. It is indeed good to see finance ministry, foreign ministry, banks and other large corporate sector in India led by women.

“Rotary India is rising high and rising fast too. The next president of Rotary will be amongst us within five years. Udupi and Manipal are glorious places with young people. This would be a vibrant places in India with full of energy and enthusiasm.

“I was impressed with project of Rotary Manipal in the field of youth, education, health and other possible areas. Today we are thinking of making India polio free and the whole world is considering making world polio free. The government of India has to make it 100% literally since, we are far better connected today through social media.”

Banarjee wished all the best for the new president of Rotary Manipal and its team.

To mark the installation of new team, Rtn Amit Aravind and Secretary Rtn Prashanth Hegde handed over the baton to Rtn Rajavarma Ariga, new president and Rtn Shreesha Hegde, new secretary for the year 2019-20.

Followed by the installation ceremony, AGE Rtn A Sesappa Rai congratulated the new team. ZLE Rtn Satish released club directory.

After the installation, the new president Rtn Rajavarma Ariga assured that he will put his best effort in heading the Rotary in future. He said, “Rotary connects people. I believe that it helps to connect ourselves and inner self, then one can connect with each other. We will be able to respond to the needs of society and there by connect to the community. Let us work together for making 2019-20, a happy year with honest effort.”

District Governor Rtn Abhinandan Shetty, said “Rotary stands as an epitome of humanity. RC Manipal is an inspiration and model to other clubs.”

Rtn Diwakar Kini presented the collar to the guest. Rtn Dr A Girija introduced of past RI president Rtn Kalyan Banerjee. PDG's and past presidents Rtn Dr Gowri and Shyla Rao recognized on the occasion.

Rtn H N Rao briefed the projects of Rotary club. DG Rtn Abhinandan Shetty released the souvenir and ZL Rtn Srikanth Prabhu presented glimpse on souvenir.

Outgoing team AG Dr A Ganesh was felicitated by the RC Manipal.

Rotary distributed E-shaala Learning Kits, worth Rs 60 lacs to 60 schools of Udupi District on the occasion.

GN Rtn Rajaram Bhat, AG 2018-19, Rtn Dr. A. Ganesh, AG 2019-20, Rtn Dr Sesappa A Rai, ZL 2018-19, Rtn Chandra Naik, ZL 2019-20, Rtn Satish, Rtn and Prashanth Hegde, secretary were present.

Chairman of diamond jubilee committee PDG Dr H Shantharam extended the welcome, while Rt Smith Aravind rendered the vote of thanks. Rtn Dr Virupaksha Devarumane compered the programme.
