Udupi police arrest nine involved in murder attempt of GP member Riyaz

Udupi, Jun 29: The Udupi police on Friday, June 28 arrested the nine people, who were allegedly involved in the murder attempt of Pudu gram panchayat member Muhammed Riyaz near Malpe port.

On June 7, near Malpe port’s ice point, the miscreants brutally attacked Mohammed Riyaz with dangerous weapons. He received grievous injuries on his head, neck, hands and legs.

To trace the attackers, town circle inspector and DCIB Udupi officials and staff formed two teams. Both the team were led by additional police SP Kumarchandra and assistant SP Jayashankar T R.

The arrested are identified as Mohammed Ismail (47), Mohammed Ghouse (33) from Valachil, Abdul Khyas (61), Mohammed Ashique alias Kochi (22) from Montepadavu, Mohammed Muneej (21) from Mudipoovami, Ansar (22) from Marnamikatte, Thowsir alias Patthonji (25) from Adyar, Mohammed Thouseef alias Thachu (25) from Frangipete, Mohammed Musthaq alias Mistha alias Bobby (23) have been arrested.

The police have also seized the lorry, a car and three swords used for the crime.

All the accused are from Mangaluru and surrounding areas. Of these, Mohammed Thowsir alias Pathonji has five attempt to murder cases registered against him in Bantwal rural police station, Kankanady police station, Kadri police station. Against Mohammed Thouseef alias Thachu, cases are registered at Kadri police station, Bantwal rural police station, Punjalkatte police station and Mangaluru Urwa police station for extortion, robbery and murder attempt. Against Mohammed Musthaq alias Mistha alias Bobby case has been registered in Konaje police station for robbery.

The nine who were arrested were produced before court and are currently in judicial custody.

    I wonder which community is a peace loving one in today's time.. especially in India where mob lynching is common factor and politics is the new religion.. so rather than blaming on each other we better look into our own self
