Mangaluru: Curriculum Implementation Support Programme held at FMMC

Mangaluru, Jul 2: The Medical Education Unit (MEU) of Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) conducted the Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) from June 24 to 26.

The CISP is a Medical Council of India (MCI) mandated 3-day workshop to enable medical college faculty to understand and implement the new curriculum. The new undergraduate curriculum is based on competence attainment and has a focus on skill based acquisition, attitudes and communication. The resource persons were Dr Smitha Bhat, Dr Shailaja, Dr Sumanth, Dr Shivashankara, Dr Safeekh and Dr Rajeshwara.

Dr Nachiket Shankar, professor of Anatomy from St John’s Medical College and Hospital and the MCI nodal centre were deputed by the MCI to be observers for this occasion.

The workshop relied on interaction and group activities to achieve the objectives. Participants learned about the basic of Competence Based Medical Education, how to align and integrate timetables, and the characteristic of assessment in Competence Based Medical Education. Participants showed a significant improvement in post test scores.
