Mangaluru: Police raid spot at Kannur - Seize animal pelts, beef, related items

Mangaluru, Jul 2: On the basis of credible information furnished by the city crime branch officials that illegal slaughterhouse is being operated in a house in Kannur here where animals are slaughtered and beef is being sold, police officials of the town police station at Kankanady raided the spot.

During the raid, they found pelts of three cattle, beef, and waste products relating to slaughter of animals, along with some equipment which were in use, in the presence of witnesses.

The accused however fled from the spot during the raid. A case relating to the incident was registered in Kankanady town police station under section 379 of Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.
