Chikkamagaluru: Youth from Manipal thrashed in Sringeri - Moral policing alleged

Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkamagaluru (MS)

Chikkamagaluru, Jul 2: Young man from Manipal, who allegedly behaved inappropriately at Sirimane Falls of Sringeri taluk of the district, was thrashed by the locals.  Some sources said it was clear act of moral policing.

A group of young men and women from Manipal had come to Sirimane Falls for an outing. When they were having bath in the falls, some locals came there and beat up the young man.

A young man from the group was manhandled by the locals.

Speaking to Daijiworld some members of the group said that it was clear act of moral policing. The youth was thrashed because he was talking to a girl from the group. There was no problem within the members of the group and no one complained to anyone, they said.

Moral policing is done at the place on regular basis, said a source in Sringeri.

My dear tulunadu friend looks like u havent got laid anytime in college. It can be the guys were having fun around like a group outing.if it was a couple and u said immoral activities it can be but this was a group so they surely werent doing something obscene. Now in this case immoral activity can also mean drinking and enjoying by making noise or smething . It can mean many different things. And if there was any sort of complaint from the ladies then it was underatandable but they claim ther was nothing wrong between them. This is clear act of jealousy from goons. One of the youths parents shld be a powerfull and well connected person then surely they can be successfully sue the locals otherwise its never happenning. Moral police has been frequently happenning in the area and nothing is dome to stop it that shows the connection of the goons.

It looks like the police have outsourced their duty to the moral police officers who can be seen working in full action around the district

WOW! The comment section here truly shows the face of coastal people here/. Supporting right wing or not, people are really regressive. Given a chance, they would have fun with girls and boys too. But no, they dont have any guts to enjoy their own life but they get jealous of youngsters. PEople here are mostly bothered about what others think. Bashing people in the name of culture, people supporting them in name of family honour, how cultured! You guys know nothing about your own religion. REad up a little about lives of devas, sages and heroes., our culture was never this backward. HOw hard is it to mind your own business? Bashes the guy and proceeds to ask the girl sing song sweet voice " pudaar enchina?" Wish parushurama had given some wisdom along with the land. heh

Why the law enforcement agency has not taken action against the law breakers upto now. Those locals who thrashed the boy and the boys in question for indecency. The photos and the videos are available for evidence. Manipal students are trouble makers. There is a place in Kemannu, Udupi Dist. A "Hanging Bridge" was built by MIT students some year back. Now that spot has been used by the same students who throng there in the evenings and hang around with drinks and ……… No police action so far. Many a times locals objected to their acts. Similar problem might occur very soon.

Check with parents for permission ? seriously what world you people live in . You really think parents sent them to Manipal spending all that money without knowing what goes on there ?

Grow up people - this happens only when people are jealous the way other people live their lives and no girl is ready to go out with these so called moral police. Will these villagers be ready to handle if this students come back with their own gangs - more over what if they take revenge on the patients from this place who get admitted in Manipal.

It is shameful to see people standing and witnessing this goondagiri without even trying to stop it. Even if the guy is guilty of any misbehavior, we cannot encourage such goondagiri. I think this is the future justice system of India. No need of any police, court etc., Local jobless men are enough.

Prime Minister Modi government wants India to be $5 trillion economies. But lynching and moral police become a norm under his own governance.
In BJP ruled Jarkhand Muslim youth just married two months before was thrashed mercilessly by BJP man and died after five days of attack without being given proper treatment.
In UP another Muslim man is similarly beaten when Sriningeri incident was reported.
If Moral police can maintain the law and order of this nation do we need to spend our taxes on Law enforcement department?
In a secular nation, Article 21 gives the privilege to free speech the citizen of this nation regardless of his/her religious affiliation.
It is time to Anti-lynching law or 'Manav Suraksha Kanoon' (MASUKA). Our nation can't afford the strongest economy unless citizens right are not protected.
As Ansari discovered with his life, these Hindu mobs who move around with apparent impunity, mean what they say. With an opposition in disarray since the election results, if civil society doesn’t wake up now, this will be the future.

While trashing for indecent behavior is good but on second thoughts,

Is India going the Pakistan way of living?

Who gave the locals the right to trash people who behave indecently?

What is the mark or level say what is indecent?

    How decent is indecent?

these locals are people who lack the opportunity.

This is real Gundagardi, i wonder how come people are supporting this gundaism. If at all some one in projecting indecent behaviour, we have law of the land to punish them.

Please DO NOT support any form of violence, even if the victim is wrong, let the law punish them, but NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE LAW INTO THEIR HAND.

Foremost, it should be checked if they (boys/girls) went to Sringeri with the knowledge of their parents. Because if the thrashing results with some serious injury, we don't know to what it will lead. Secondly, if the inappropriate behaviour reaches upto getting physical, the youth must be careful not to be accused of rape at a later time.

Do not take advantage of the trust/freedom your parents bestowed on you young people, you are eventually humiliating them publicly with your deeds if you do that.

I appreciate the step taken by the Sringeri locals on the Mangaluru youths for their indecent behaviour,They taught them a very good lesson. They should remember and think twice before indulging in such indecent behaviour in the future wherever they go,visit.Present days youths both boys and girls think that they can do anything as per their whims and fancy without any fear wherever they go.They should be not only thrashed nicely in front of the public but also to be paraded naked.

Please dont comment unless you know fully well what took place. For your information, it is completely fine and legal to kiss the gf in public. Kissing your gf shall fall in the freedom of expression guaranteed under Art . 19(1)(a) of the constitution of India. The judiciary in India has considered kissing and hugging the girl friend in public as an expression of love and compassion and not an obscene act. In India people and police dont know the constitution and penal code. These guys really look like goondas and this is nothing but goondagiri.
