Mangalore, May 22:  "Shooting for the Konkani movie, 'Kazar' is in progress and the movie is set to be released on September 9, 2009," informed Frank Fernandes, producer of the film. The film is being directed by Richard Castelino, who also has shouldered the responsibility of writing the script and dialogues. Sudhakar Bannanje is the operative director of the movie, while Wilfy Rebimbus and Ragdev have provided music.  Background music is being taken care of by Bharati Das, lyrics are by Wilfy Rebimbus and the late Mick Max, with Elyar Takkode and Arthur Pereira working behind the camera. The star cast includes Larry Fernandes, Harshika Punacha, Mitesh and Savio Monteiro in the lead roles, supported by many other artistes.

At the press conference held on the evening of Thursday May 21 at Abhiman Residency in the city, Fernandes said, the Konkani movie he has been producing, centres around the noble values of the system of marriage. According to a belief prevalent among the Roman Catholics, marriage is the best system in the world and that the bond between the couple which lives together has food and offers prayer together, lasts long.

Sudhakar Bannanje welcomed and delivered introductory address. Fr Santosh Kamat, director Richard Castelino, producer Frank Fernandes, Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld.com, Rohidas Kadri, Ramachander Bykampady and Jagadish Adhikari were present.

While wishing every success to the venture, BJP leader Jagadish Adhikari said that Richard is not making the movie with an eye on making money, but because of the love and affection he has for the regional language, which also is his mother tongue. In view of this, he deserves to be appreciated and needs to be wholeheartedly supported, he added. Ramachander Bykampady, Rohidas Kadri and Frank Fernandes too spoke on the occasion.

Sundar Hegde presented the programme. Rony Crasta proposed vote of thanks.

Producing a movie in Konkani/Tulu is not an easy task. My cousin Dr Richard Castelino, has contributed much to preserve the Konkani/Tulu cultures especially by producing and directing so many movies. I hope ''Kazar'' will be hit in the big screen. I wish my cousin, actors and all the team best of luck.
