Woman delivers baby at Dombivli station on platform no 3

Mumbai, Jul 3: On an early Wednesday morning, a 29-year-old pregnant woman experienced agonizing labour pain at Dombivli station. She was on her way to Cama Hospital while travelling from Khadavali. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, the doctors and nurses from the One Rupee Clinic rushed to her aid.

The woman has been identified as Jasmin Shabbir Sheikh and Dr Akshay was the attending medic who helped in the delivery of a baby boy. The baby was delivered on platform no three at 7.21 am. According to the clinic, this was the eighth delivery at the railway station by them.

Following the delivery, the newborn and the mother, along with the husband were sent to a nearby government hospital for further treatment, accompanied by Government Railway Police personnel.

For their quick assistance, Sheikh’s family appreciated the staff of One Rupee Clinic. These clinics can be found at several Mumbai Railway stations. They provide medical assistance for the token charge of Rs 1.
