Byndoor, Jul 4: The litter from the Ashrad Poultry Farm, which is situated at Navunda Kudrukodu of the taluk, has turned into a liquid state and is flowing everywhere along with the rain water and has entered the public pond of water which is situated nearby. In addition, the foul smell from the rotten waste of the farm has filled the air and whole environment of the village is polluted. Water from more than 25 wells of the village is polluted with the litter and is not potable anymore.

This poultry farm that is spread over an area of six acres belongs to a person called Ibrahim from Bhatkal. This farm is a huge one with a capacity of rearing 39,000 egg laying chickens. Due to the irresponsible maintenance of the poultry farm, the present situation is created. As the waste of four to six huge units is not removed on time, the same is getting flowed with rain water. The waste is getting flown into the drain that is behind the house of Narayana Poojary, a local resident. One kilometer area around the farm is emanating foul smell. There is a scare of epidemic to the residents of the locality. The locals have brought this to the notice of the concerned.

Health department officials have checked the water of the nearby wells and have advised the residents not to drink water without boiling. Zilla panchayat member Gauri has taken up this issue in KDP meeting and has urged the administration to close down the poultry farm. The local gram panchayat has served notice to the poultry farm, after obtaining the reports, from health and animal husbandry departments. But the poultry farm owner is not paying any heed to the notice of gram panchayat.

MLA B M Sukumar Shetty has visited the spot and assessed the situation. He has informed the officials of the Pollution Control Board to visit the spot and take suitable action. The villagers, who gathered during the visit of the MLA, urged the poultry farm to be closed.

Zilla panchayat member Gauri Devadiga, president of gram panchayat N Narasimha Devadiga, member of taluk panchayat Pushparaj Shetty, gram panchayat member Jayanti and BJP leader Deepak Kumar Shetty were present.

I cant understand how health dept.had given licence to him to run a chicken farm without giving explanation how he will dispose the waste of farm and where. Now farm must take immediate care of their farm.otherwise public will teach him a lesson what to do with it.Doesnt he have a pinch of responsibility towards soceity?do we want our drink water to spoil and get sick.?Not only waste of poultry contains waste but also some chemicals which they use disinfection or spray ?That can make sick ,and resistence to antibiotics.I know in some places they feed antibiotics as chics ,not to get sick.Owner is interested only on money but not humans ,.well when he does further so people will teach him a lesson by not buying his product and bann him.

Burn and pollute the air and spread bad odor in surrounding area.
Rather convert into compost in a scientific way. (not sure poultry waste is suitable for the purpose)

Yes, chicken waste can be converted into fertilizer. In UAE, chicken waste, goat waste, horse waste, cow waste and even fish waste are available as composts, all supplied by the local municipality after subjecting them to necessary treatment and packing them adequately.

Common people are not aware about this because generally people don't involve in gardening. Their life revolves around their work and family. Those who have a garden and if they manage it personally, a visit to local nursery will give you all this information.

The chicken shops situated at Surathkal market & Haleyangadi are disposing their waste into the Nandini river near Mukka. It is time that they are made responsible for disposing their waste. What is the city corporation doing about it.

There is a big hospital in Mukka that is disposing untreated sewage into the water body, unchecked, 24 hours a day. The whole place is stinking, the fish are dying, fishing festivals are held every year in this place.

Please Collector saab, please check this out & meter the water in & water out, etc.

Everywhere ? Even with the top exporters of Beef ? Its time a raid is conducted and inspection carried out. I'm sure the nation doesn't need revenue collected by means that harm the well-being of the citizens.

This is exactly like chemical factories releasing the affluents into rivers ! The owner is only worried about his income ! Please ensure that he doesn't flee !

Seize his Passport and all his bank accounts until he rectifies the error and arranges proper dry-treatment of the waste and didposes it scientifically !

    Irresponsible thugs !

Yeah, because he is a muslim you are saying that take his passport. what you have to say about MRPL and Nandikoor plants that have and are polluting the river and sea water from their untreated affluents?
Be neutral. When you speak against one, name the other offenders also. Do not be hypocritic.

    Kunal,

This is the mother nature he is polluting, not any specific community by using a scanner that pollutes only specific peoples' well. Same applies to the factories, irrelevant of which community they belong to. Seize the PP/Bank accounts because it has become a fashion in India lately, to flee after filling their own coffers. Again, the money they made too doesn't differentiate whether it goes to a Hindu's account, or a Muslim's. They will fill they belly by legal or illegal means.

    That's why !

Chicken is the only meat freely available so no need to close down this Poultry Farm.
Send a Notice to Ibrahim asking him how he plans to stop this Nuisance.
Take action only if he does not respond ...
