Bengaluru: Deve Gowda says Siddaramaiah, other leaders will manage resignations

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 4: JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda, said that leader of Congress Legislature Party, Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister Parameshwar, and minister D K Shivakumar, would be looking into the issue of resignations tendered by two Congress legislators. He was speaking to media persons here on Wednesday July 3.

Gowda pointed out that the coalition government is not facing any danger now. He said that there are able leaders to manage any kind of crisis and the resignation by Congress legislators has not created any problems. He also said that Anand Singh has resigned on account of differences over selling of land to Jindal and hence his resignation does not pose any problems.

"All the 37 legislators of our party are together. The remaining Congress MLAs too are united. The government is also on a strong footing and safe," he stated. He also analyzed that Rahul Gandhi cannot be held responsible for the defeat of the Congress in Lok Sabha election. Speaking about the resignation tendered by Rahul Gandhi, he said that Rahul had undertaken more widespread campaigns as compared to Modi, but the people had chosen to bless Modi. He felt it would be wrong to attribute responsibility for the loss to Rahul.

Deve Gowda, who conducted a meeting of minority leaders from the party in the party office on Wednesday, asked them to strengthen the party to enable it to fare well in BBMP and other elections.

In the meantime, speaking at Mysuru, former chief minister Sidaramaiah, said that no Congress legislator except Anand Singh has resigned from assembly membership. He said that situation does not warrant convening of the coordination committee of the government. He said he would speak to Anand Singh on the issue. He clarified that Ramesh Jarkiholi has not resigned, duly pointing out that writing of resignation letter in his letterhead and streaming it in social website does not tantamount to resignation. He drew the attention of the concerned that there are guidelines about how to tender resignation.

Siddaramaiah contradicted the notion of higher education minister, G T Devegowda that Modi and Amit Shah and other BJP leaders are not indulging in Operation Lotus now. He said he has information that Modi and Shah are themselves involved with this operation at present.

The JDS party was NOT elected by the people. More than 100 candidates of this party lost their deposits in the elections. The Kannadigas do no support this coalition, its forced upon them. The LS elections reflects the mood of the people . It is in in the best interests of the Cong to bow out of this coalition . If not a bigger disaster awaits. As it is ,the Cong president has resigned and not bothered. So before being booted out, its prudent for the cong to withdraw themselves.
