New Delhi, Jul 9: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to appear in an Ahmedabad court on Tuesday in relation with a defamation case filed by a BJP corporator Krishnavadan Brahmbhatt. In the complaint, Krishnavadan alleged Rahul Gandhi of making derogatory remarks against Amit Shah during an election rally in Jabalpur on April 23.
In the summons, prima facie, issued by metropolitan magistrate D S Dabhi, it states that there was a case of criminal defamation against Gandhi under Indian Penal Code Section 500 for the comment, 'Murder-accused BJP chief Amit Shah, wah, kya shaan hai (how glorious)'.
In the complaint, filed by Krishnavadan, it states that Shah was acquitted by a CBI court in 2015 and the acquittal was known 'in all political circles including that of the Congress'.

Since last week, this is the third time that Rahul will be appearing in court for defamation suit filed against him. Deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Modi had filed a case against the Congress leader for saying, "All thieves have the surname Modi,” and the other case was filed by an RSS worker over Gandhi’s comment allegedly linking journalist Gauri Lankesh’s killing with 'BJP-RSS ideology'.
