Bangalore: Yeddi Regime Clears 64 projects worth Rs 1,592 cr

BANGALORE, JUN 1: The B S Yeddyurappa-led BJP regime has cleared 64 industrial projects involving Rs 1,592.04 crore investment in 16 different sectors capable of creating 17, 300 jobs in the next few years.
Karnataka’s State Level Single Window Clearance Committee (SLSWCC) headed by Large and Medium Industries minister Murugesh Nirani said the projects were spread over 16 districts.
Bangalore Rural district received highest investment of Rs 259.06 crore in 14 projects which would generate 6689 jobs while Bangalore Urban district bagged 9 projects involving an investment of Rs. 252.86 crore (2961 jobs).
The minister said 18 proposals had been cleared in the sponge iron sector involving investment of Rs 592 crore (2140 jobs), 5 proposals in aerospace with investment of Rs 135.98 crore (1591 jobs), 8 in information technology (Rs 113.9 crore and 6060 jobs), 5 in iron and steel (Rs. 91.19 crore), 4 in energy (Rs. 153.52 crore), 3 each in food processing (Rs 57.91 crore) and logistics (Rs 137.7 crore), 2 each in research and development (Rs 58.5 crore), chemicals (Rs 23.65 crore) and hotel (Rs 52 crore), one each in agro-processing (Rs 3.3 crore), engineering (Rs 8.2 crore), effluent treatment plant (Rs 4.9 crore), and pharmaceuticals (Rs 14 crore).
Bangalore-based aerospace companies such as Systems Controls, G L Polyurethane Company Private Limited, Micron Engineers, Priyaraj Electronics Limited Pacific Natura Biotech Private Limited have decided to invest in aerospace component industries at Aerospace Industrial Area at Deveanahalli, near Bangaluru International Airport Limited.
Out of eight IT parks, two would come at Yeshwanthpur in Bangalore north Taluk, five at Devanahalli in Bangalore Rural district and one at Gollahalli in Bangalore north taluk. Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board has acquired lands for IT parks.
S Tech Park, Venkateshwara Enterprises, Bee Zee Enterprises, Krishna Enterprises, R.R. Enterprises, DRK Enterprises and United Micro Electronics Solutions Limited, all Bangalore, would set up IT parks in Bangalore Urban and Rural districts. R. Praveen Chandra, Bangalore, would set up service handling of bulk cargo of river jetty barges in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district on 800 acres with an investment of Rs. 48.82 crore. Bio Power India Limited of Harihar has proposed to set up a 7.5 MW biomass power plant at Ranebennur in Haveri district with investment of Rs. 46 crore.
While VSL Steel Limited has proposed to set up a 4 MW cogeneration power plant in Hiriyur of Chitradurga district with investment of Rs 16.86 crore, Shanta Steel and Power Limited of Hospet has proposed establish a 10 MW power plant at Irakallaguda Hobli in Koppal district involving investment of Rs 42.46 crore.
Apart from Bangalore Urban and Rural districts, 14 other districts received investment proposals and they are Chikmagalur, Hassan, Haveri, Kolar, Ramanagara, Uttara Kannada, Belguam (one each), Chitradurga, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Bellary, Bidar (two each) and Tumkur (five). Majority of the iron sponge projects would come up in Koppal and Bellary districts, the minister added.
