Jaipur, Jul 19: A woman was admitted with severe injuries following a rape and after receiving the required medical attention, one of the medical superintendents stated that the she was recovering. In a comment, the superintendent said, "A medical jurist has prepared a report on the nature of her injuries and submitted to the police. We will not be able to discharge her as long as her treatment is on."

The Rajasthan DGP, Bhupendra Singh was informed of the matter and was asked to provide a statement on the nature of the victim’s injuries, to which he said, "The entire matter is under investigation. The medical tests that are being done are also part of the probe. It will not be right to draw any inferences till the investigation is complete."

On July 3 the victim was picked up by the police after her brother-in-law was arrested under a theft case. The victim’s brother-in-law died while in custody, for which an inquiry is being conducted by an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate. Concerning the victim, the Crime Branch is undertaking an investigation pertaining to her FIR where she mentioned that she was subjected to gangrape and other offences caused by six policemen, including SHO of the police station, where she was held along with her brother-in-law. Following the case, all of the accused were suspended, while the government removed Churu SP, Rajendra Kumar Sharma.

The victim narrated her ordeal where she described the events leading to her rape. She stated that once she was taken to the police station, the police bashed her. Later that night on the same day, around five-six policemen walked into the station, who were in a state of total inebriation, indulged in stripping and raping her.

She claimed to have been drugged by the police officials. "They took my thumb impression on blank papers. They threatened me saying that if I told anyone about what had happened, they would kill me. When I resisted their attempts to rape me, they said they would burn me by pouring petrol on me and gave me electric shocks," the victim said. She also asserted that her brother-in-law was killed in front of her by the police officials as they used a rope to do so.

Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma has discarded the victim's rape allegation calling it false and stating that she was coerced into filing an FIR.

When the victim was asked to justify her claim, she said, “Don’t you see the bruises? Where have my nails gone then? Why would I say that I was raped, risk threats if the incident did not happen?”

We are living in a third class country where there are no strict laws for rape, murder and acid throwing. Criminals will be granted bail for these crimes. Shame on our law and law makers
