Sullia, Jul 20: The Western Ghats are receiving torrential downpour. A huge boulder, in the meanwhile, is waiting to get unsettled from its spot in the ghat section and fall down on the railway tracks at Manibanda near Siribagilu on the railway route between Subramanya and Sakleshpur stations. This boulder is dangerously placed and there are chances of it getting deposited on the track at any time. The boulder is located in a dangerous position on Shiradi ghat stretch of the track.

If this happens, movement of trains on this line will be severely hit. Moreover, the boulder can also pose serious threat to the trains moving on this line.

The railway officials are planning to remove the boulder by setting off a blast on Saturday July 20. But they have not yet given any indication about the diversion plans for trains or possible suspension of train movement on this stretch if removal of boulder causes any problems.

Officials of the engineering division of the railways are camping at the spot. As the boulder is perilously placed, the officials have also been keeping a close watch on it and also on the trains which move on these tracks at night.
