Kasargod: Heavy downpour continues, low lying areas inundated

Kasargod, Jul 20: Rain continued its fury in the district inundating low lying areas with water entering more than a hundred houses. Madhoor Madanantheshwara Siddi Vinayaka temple too got inundated with rain water. Madhuvahini lake is overflowing causing floods in nearby areas.

People have been shifted to safe places as the rain water has entered several houses. Low areas look like islands in the district. Several people in Anangor, Madhoor and other places have been shifted.

The bridge over Kanhangad Arayi lake is submerged in water. Several roads are washed away. National highway from Talapady to Manjeshwar is in shambles due to potholes and pits.

Red alert is declared in the district in view of heavy rain. Holiday is declared for schools and colleges. The disaster management team is ready in case of emergencies.
