Heavy rainfall, landslips disrupt Bengaluru-Mangaluru train services

Mangaluru, Jul 20: The train services between Bengaluru-Mangaluru are suspended on July 21 and 22, after incessant rains caused landslips, covering the railway track near Sirivagilu.

The South Western Railway (SWR) has cancelled day train services on Sunday and Monday, while the night trains have been diverted and will run via Salem and Palakkad.

A press release from SWR states that due to incessant rainfall on the Sakleshpur-Subramanya Road Ghat section, loose soil and rocks are blocking the tracks.

Also, a huge boulder which poses danger for the train services needs to be blasted. Currently, the railway staff have begun the work to clear the soil and rocks on the track.

Trains cancelled and diverted

Train No 16575 Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction, Gomateshwara Tri-weekly Express is cancelled on Sunday. Train No 16576 Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur tri-weekly Gomateshwara Express is cancelled on Monday.

Train No 16513 Bengaluru-Karwar overnight express journey commencing on Saturday would be short-terminated at Mangaluru Central and cancelled between Mangaluru Central and Karwar. Train No 16514 Karwar-Bengaluru overnight express is cancelled between Karwar and Mangaluru Central on Sunday while it will run between Mangaluru Central and Bengaluru.

Train No 16511/16513 Bengaluru- Kannur/Karwar overnight express journey commencing on Saturday would run via Jolarpettai, Salem, Palakkad and Shoranur Junction instead of via Shravanabelagola, Hassan, Sakleshpur and Mangaluru.

Train No 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar-Bengaluru overnight express journey commencing on Saturday would run via Shoranur Jn., Palakkad, Salem and Jolarpettai instead of via Mangaluru, Sakleshpura, Hassan and Mysuru.
