The population in Mangalore has increased manifold but for supply of water there is only one dam I.e. Thumbay dam which has limited storage capacity. Many high storey buildings have been constructed in Mangalore which consumes a lot of water. So we should either increase the level of the Thumbay dam or construct new dam so that enough water is stored to meet the requirements if drinking water for Mangalore.

This is expected in July and August. It is not raining as a regular monsoon season should.
Of course open manholes, dislocated stones on the footpaths, and open or clogged sewage pose dangers and cautions has to be taken.
Rain water should be conserved by rain water harvesting, terracing, vented dams, trenching and other methods of slowing the precious flow to the sea depending on the size of land one has.

There were only intermittent showers on Sunday and no heavy rains in Mangalore as claimed by IMD!
BTW, why are they not giving the exact amount of rainfall instead of giving generic statements like "heavy rains" ??

Yes, in the above photo it's very clear that how much it rained yesterday. Auto just touching the running water. Your view regarding the disclosure of exact rainfall per day is really advisable. They should give details of rain fall in mm or cm. Which places rained heavily I don't know but here morning one shower and around 8 pm rained for thirty minutes. Now today morning one shower... That's it..

These chaps are not revealing the correct amount of rainfall till date because they know it's way below the yearly average. The total rainfall till date may just be equivalent to those received during premonsoon showers and our leaders are in their own world involved in the majority tamasha since 2 weeks??

When our Meteorological Department has warned regarding heavy rain on 22nd and 23rd. Our District Administrator should have declared holidays to Schools and Colleges.

Good rainfall is sufficent to cover shortage during summer season. Where is your attention towards water..only focus on missing MLA's.
Still most of wells not have sufficent water.

Today in fact the schools should be closed. Not on Saturday. DC took a wrong decision, schools be shut after it rains not before it rains.
