Thieves chased by man in car, return wrong mobile phone when confronted

New Delhi, Jul 22: A woman was attacked by two men on a bike who tried to steal her mobile phone. The victim, Poonam Yadav (30), was travelling by e-rickshaw when the incident took place. Soon after the theft took place, Poonam urged a man nearby to chase the accused.

The man who was in a car managed to catch the thieves and retrieve the phone. However, when he returned it to Poonam, she claimed that it was not her phone. It was found that the snatchers had handed over the wrong phone.

The video following the event went viral and the accused can be clearly identified. An FIR in connection to the case has been registered with Mukherjee Nagar Police Station. The complaint filed by Poonam states, that she was travelling from Burari toward Kingsway camp by e-rickshaw with the mobile phone on the seat beside her. Two boys in their 20s, riding a bike snatched her mobile and then sped along the Burari flyover. Further, a man in the car, who Poonam requested to chase the thieves, confronted the duo when he was successful in catching up with them.

Unfortunately, the accused sped away once they returned the phone and ended up handing over a wrong phone. The police officials have stated that they have already begun a probe in this matter.
