CM for central university status for Himachal varsity


Shimla, Jul 22 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, here on Monday, advocated the central university status for the Himachal Pradesh University.

Chairing the university's 50th foundation day, Thakur announced increase in its budget from Rs 115 crore to Rs 130 crore and laid foundation stones for Rs 8.20 crore developmental projects.

"The state would set up libraries for visually impaired in selected colleges and schools and provide all help to ensure WiFi facility on the campus," Thakur said.

Hailing the achievements and milestones of the university, Vice-Chancellor Sikander Kumar said, "It was committed to maintaining 'A' grade given by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university would be fully computerised by the end of this month".
