Pune, Jul 23: A 28 year old resident of Kalaburgi district in Karnataka, Gajanand Chandrakant Hosale, is all set to submit an application to the city congress officials, seeking his appointment as President of the grand old party.

Hosale who works in a private automobile company in Pune, said he is going to apply for the post of Congress president, to the city unit president of Congress, Ramesh Bagwe, on July 23, as the Congress party is yet to make a decision on its new chief after Rahul Gandhi stepped down from the post.

Hosale said "As Rahul Gandhi is firm on his decision to step down as the president of the Congress, the party is in a great confusion whom to appoint the new chief and in such a scenario, I wish to file my nomination for the post.  As Rahul said that the party needs young leadership, I feel that the party needs a president who is not only young by age, but also at heart and in terms of thinking as well," he added.

As he not even a primary member of the Congress and was never affiliated to the party in any capacity, Hosale said he will complete the procedure of primary membership of the party,  before applying for the president's position on Tuesday,

As reported in ANI, Hosale told the publication " It has been more than a month since Rahul Gandhi has resigned as president of Congress party. Nobody has been appointed yet. My thinking and ideology match with that of the congress so i will apply for its president's position.

When asked why he can't join the party as its member and work, he said that if he starts working as a common party worker, chances are that he can be sidelined.
