Dubai: Konkani Poets Meet Provides Forum for Talented Poets

Dubail, Jun 6: More than 35 Konkani poetry enthusiasts gathered at Karama Winny’s Restaurant on Friday June 5 at the poets' meet jointly organized under the banners of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum and Kavita Trust.
 
Senior Konkani writer and poet Tony Mendonca Niddodi inaugurated the session by unveiling a placard wherein a short poem was written.  In his inaugural address, he briefed about the developments taking place in the field of Konkani poetry in the recent years.
 
A critical appreciation on the maiden anthology, 'Lharam Lojelim,' by Robert Fernandes Udyavar was conducted by the prominent poets /critics present at the meet.  While poet Edmond Noronha (Preetham) spoke on the aspect of 'Religion  and Emotions' in Robert’s poetry in his presentation, poet Vincy Pinto Angelore spoke on the 'Humour & Satirical factors' in the anthology. 

Prominent critic Nanu Marol (Clarence Fernandes, Thottam) did an overall analysis of the entire anthology, highlighting strengths and rooms for improvement.  The in-depth study on the poet's growth over the years was evaluated by him during the session.
 
Trustee of Kavita Trust Averyl Rodrigues concluded this session with her opinions and observations on Robert’s poetry.  She expressed her views on the philosophical and optimistic facets found in the anthology with adequate examples.
 
In the second part of the poets meet moderated by poet Vincy Pinto Angelore, humorous short poems were read out by prominent poets. Alwyn Pinto, Ashok Dias Byndoor, J J  Dias Shirtady, Stany Bela, Sannu Monis Belle, Jossy Bajjodi, Stan Ageira Mulki, Vincy Pinto Angelore,  Edmond Noronha (Preetham), Francis Fernandes Cascia, Arthur Pereira and Tony Mendonca Niddodi read out their humorous poems.
 
Ashok Dias Byndoor ably compered the programme.  Besides Daiji Dubai ex-convener Dayan D’Souza, Stan Ageira, the present covener of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum, Alwyn Pinto, convener of Daiji Rangmandir, other office-bearers Michael Castelino and Paul Almeida were present.  Poet Vincy Angelore's efforts in coordinating the event were appreciated.

    Congratulations to all the Daiji Dubai Writers/Poets in Dubai. Wishing you every success and good luck to future. Stany Nirude: I read your book “Jikleli Salvaon”, just finished reading the book yesterday. Wow…. It’s a beautifulllllllllll story, I thoroughly enjoyed reading each page. It’s narrated so well!!! I can’t explain…. I had tears in my eyes…. The way you have express the feeling of Lovina, Maria, Raphael and aggressive Captain Prem. Waiting to read other books also. All the best and congratulations Stany, I just loved the story... keep writing...
