Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai (SP)

Dubai, Jul 26: A Nigerian woman currently living in Dubai has been accused of confining a man inside an apartment and robbing him of DH 60,300. She was helped by four women accomplices in this crime, Khaleej Times reported.

The woman, supported by her aides, has been charged with locking up a man of Nepali origin inside a flat. The man was enticed into accepting an offer to provide massage service. After locking the man, aged 33, inside the flat, he was robbed of DH 60,000, the newspaper said.

The lady was charged in a court here on Thursday July 25 and has been subjected to trial. The accused, aged 34, has been charged with confining the man in question inside the flat against his will with the help of her accomplices. She and her gang members have also been charged with robbing him by posing death threat. The victim was held in unlawful confinement. Forced robbery charges have been sought to be enforced through the court. The accused has been detained by the police, Khaleej Times said.

The case was registered in Al Rafaa police station on June 10 last year.

As per the details of the case, the said gang of women distributed a business card offering massage service. Cell phone number to be contacted was provided in the card, with a bid to attract gullible men and rob them. The complainant, who happens to be a driver, said that after coming across a business card offering massage services, he had contacted the number printed on the card by using WhatsApp service. He said he was taken to a flat at Al Rafaa and that after reaching there, he was overpowered by eight African ladies who locked the door thereafter. He said they attacked him and forcibly took away Dh 60,300 belonging to him in cash, besides threatening him against going to the police. He said he was allowed to go after sometime. Later, he said, he could identify some of the suspects at the police station.

The defendant later confessed to have robbed the above driver with the help of her accomplices during interrogation. She revealed to the police that she had been brought to the UAE by another woman for working in an apartment and one of her jobs was to lure men with the offers of massage and then robbing them forcefully.

The police said that the apartment complex where the incident happened is not covered by CCTV cameras. The accused were held in another flat in relation to a similar incident. The court has adjourned trial in the case to August 1.

In India, a woman is rescued.

If she is part of some special personal business, she is rescued.

Wonder why the poor Nigerian woman in Dubai is not rescued.

It looks like the Dubai legal system might want to learn some special lessons from the Desi legal system.
