New Delhi, Jul 30: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked all the districts in the state to provide details of the management of all mosques, especially in the Valley.
As reported in Times Now, the ministry has directed district police officials to send a report on the necessary details of the mosques operating in the state including information about management and locations of these mosques. The ministry has also asked for details of maulvis and funding of the mosques and how they are functioning. The MHA order says, “Kindly provide details of mosques and their management falling within your respective jurisdiction as per proforma of this office immediately for onward submission to higher authorities as per the format.”

The home ministry's move, however, has not gone well with the religious heads and they have taken strong objection to the latest directive. Grand Mufti, Nasir UL Islam, vice-chairman, state MPLB, called it 'religious interference' and high-handedness of the central government. The mosques in the valley have been under the scanner for a long time now, as some of them are reportedly suspected to be power centres where secessionist activities are believed to be propagated.
