Modi gave gift of dignity to Muslim sisters: Harsimrat

New Delhi, Jul 31 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the gift of dignity to Muslim women by getting the Triple Talaq Bill passed, Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said on Wednesday.

"Days ahead of #Rakshabandhan, the NDA govt led by hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji gave our Muslim sisters the gift of dignity by getting the #TripleTalaqBill passed," the Shiromani Akali Dal MP from Punjab's Bathinda tweeted.

"The message is clear: Our women will be treated with respect. No one will be oppressed in this land of equals," she said.

A historic legislation which criminalises instant Triple Talaq among Muslims got Parliament's nod on Tuesday.

In my opinion Bjp had dig their own grave by passing this bill. It will be backfired someday sooner or later. The Bill predicted to ruin entire Muslim famulies. Who knows trend of triple talaq may turn into other way like Modi did in past which might quite easy for the men drive away wives from their life.

Ahmed, for others laws are brought long back bypassing religious personal laws..its pity that in India even SC dont shows no urgency on your cases as it does other faith cases..its taboo eventhough many practices abolished by many ME countries..Dont worry about new law...anyways women or her family has to complain..if Women has problem with TTL law, then still she has solution...if she gets TTL then she shouldnt approach court or police..problem solved..

BJP and it's allies are boasting as historical victory for Muslim women, but the reality is, it's not the love and concern for Muslim women what has made them to pass the bill, but the enemity towards Muslim (Men) community. Why not they have same love and concern towards separated couples or Abandoned wives??

According to the last census (2011), there are a total of 2.37 million across India who identify themselves as “separated”... We have no way of knowing whether these women voluntarily separated from their husbands or were simply abandoned unilaterally or worse – driven out of their marital homes.

Of these, the vast majority – 1.9 million – are Hindu women. The total number of “separated” Muslim women is 0.28 milliion.

Remember the above figure is of 2011, around 8 year old, so the numbers could b even larger by now in 2019.

Just imagine, what Justice will be provided to a women and how a marriage will be protected if a husband is thrown to jail.. Does her husband or her in laws will agree to accept such daughter in law back who has thrown her husband to jail? Probability is zero. What about the dependent parents and siblings of the jailed person? Who will feed them? Who will take care of them? At one side your saying your giving justice to Muslim women (wives), and other side your doing injustice to Mother and sister of the jailed person.... Marriage and Divorce are not crimes to make it criminalize and to put behind bars.

The best was to punish such husband to provide 100 to 500 times Meher as penalty else face the jail term.

Now a days it's really best to have a contract with defined terms of each parties and if both agree then get married, else look for other proposals... If anybody breaches the contract then punish with penalty and if the matter is serious then divorce through Islamic practice, than going to courts and wasting each others precious time of such a short life span filled with unlimited health issues and tensions.

By that logic even a murderer should not go to Jail. What happens to his wife and parents when he goes to Jail. They will suffer for no fault of theirs???

Vasu, u missed a point. Marriage and Divorce are family matters not criminal cases. Since in Hinduism doesn't have divorce concept, it doesnt mean to apply the same on others forcefully. In Islam there is a provision to both male and female to divorce and start a new life. There is no concept of Janam Janam ka Bandhan in Islam. Marriage is a contract.
