Kasargod, Jul 31: In an unfortunate incident, two youngsters drowned near here while having bath in a pond on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident has happened in Maanya near Neerchalu here. Abdul Khader(20), son of Shafi from Alampadi Bafakhi and Salih Ali(17), son of Belkuradka resident Mohammed Ali are the deceased.
The incident happened when they got down for bath in the pond with their friends. Several people in the vicinity have been reaching the pond for bath every day. These two youngsters who were having bath in the afternoon drowned unfortunately. Those, who were with them, tried to rescue the duo but they failed in their efforts.
The fire service personnel retrieved their bodies later.
The dead bodies are kept in Kasargod general hospital. Those will be handed over to their relatives after postmortem.
Vidyanagar police have registered a police case.
