Mangaluru: Dengue epidemic - MLAs hold meeting with DC, MCC officials

Mangaluru, Aug 1: MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr Bharat Y Shetty will take the initiative to form teams at booth level to create awareness on the preventive measures to be taken to control dengue.

They were speaking in a meeting with the health, MCC officials, chaired by deputy commissioner (DC) Sasikanth Senthil with regards to the control of dengue epidemic on Thursday, August 1.

Mangaluru south MLA Vedavyasa Kamath said, "There is an outbreak of the dengue in the district and some people have lost their lives because of the same. I have been in constant touch with DC Sasikanth Senthil to take all kinds of preventive measures to tackle dengue.

“We will now form a team in every booth and ward to conduct awareness among the people about dengue and hunt larvae. They will be given training by the health officials and this drive by the members in the booth level will begin from August 4. People should be aware of dengue and take all kind of preventive measures,” he said.

Vedavyasa Kamath also stressed to focus on the unutilized land, where water gets accumulated and gives scope for mosquito breeding.

DC Sasikanth Senthil said, "We have formed different teams such as data and planning team, surveillance and source reduction team, awareness creating team and municipal cleaning team. They are working in several places as we have formed 104 grids within the MCC limits. We are stressing on larvae reduction and have controlled it to a level.”

Regard to Gujjarakere, Sasikanth Senthil said, "We have tested the water at Gujjarakere. There are no larvae of dengue mosquito now. Firstly, people should understand that these mosquitoes breed inside the house. We are also conducting Guppy fish drive as one of the measures to control mosquitoes.”

    Clear the city road sides from garbage and decaying materials. Get rid of open drains and stagnant sewage- That is basics. Next fumigate these area! Problem solved!

    As already informed in what Sapp Mobile No.9900567000 we are facing more problem in gutter waters where we stay near by and also many houses are also there. Full of mosquitos starts flying full day. We request you to kindly do the needful.

    No use of this type of meetings . Nothing will come out from our MLAs . Only show. If they really want to do something to control Dengue, they our administration must appoint scavengers to clean up . They must appoint on temporary basis to clean in every ward. Cleaning must be daily basis. Or cleaning duty must be given to private agencies. And administration must monitor daily and not enjoying in resort.

    Can you please stop all street side foods near Kankanady market ,Valencia , Open shwrama vechiles , Food stalls near Town hall & hampankatta bus stand ,
    Cose all open drains ,People throing garbage on un wanted places .
    Forming teams is of no use of you dodnt stop this
