Bengaluru, Aug 1: Even as he awaits BJP national high command’s nod to go ahead with the expansion of his ministry after easily winning the trust vote in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Monday, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa kept himself busy with series of meetings with senior officials on the State’s financial position, crop situation and other issues in Vidhana Soudha on Thursday.

The chief minister has already reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures in Kodagu district, which suffered large-scale devastation due to heavy rains and landslides in 2018.

Yediyurappa has also reviewed the drought situation in the State and has directed the officials to accord top priority to drinking water supply in the affected taluks and also to take steps to ensure supply of fodder to cattle.        

He held a review meeting on the State’s financial position on Thursday with chief secretary T M Vijaya Bhaskar and additional chief secretary of finance department I S N Prasad. Chief minister’s advisor M Lakshminarayana and additional chief secretary Dr E V Ramana Reddy also attended the meeting.

In another meeting on the crop situation in the State, which was also attended by additional chief secretary and divisional commissioner Vandita Sharma, Yediyurappa directed the officials to ensure that necessary inputs such as fertilisers, seeds etc were made available to farmers.         

Earlier in the day, the chief minister paid a surprise visit to the receipts and despatch section in the ground floor of the Vidhana Soudha and directed that stern measures must be taken to ensure that all employees were present on duty compulsorily during office hours.

Vijayalkshmi, daughter of former chief minister Kengal Hanumanthiah, who built the Vidhana Soudha, called on Yediyurappa in the morning.
