Mysuru, Aug 3: An engineer working for a private company, who was on a tour, lost his balance and drowned in a lake when trying to capture selfie when on a boat ride in Subbikere lake at Bilagunda village in the district on the evening of Thursday August 1.

The victim of this tragedy was G S S Kartik (24), son of Srinivasan from Coimbatore. The lake is located near Periyapatna in the district. .

A firm based in Koppa village named Adventure had got permission for conducting boating trips in the lake. Because of continuous losses, the boat ride had been suspended since the last two weeks. About 50 tourists from Coimbatore had arrived here on Thursday and urged the tourist firm to take them to tourist spots around this area. During this trip, the tourists were also brought to the lake.

When the tourists were enjoying the boat ride, Kartik tried to capture selfie by using his cellphone in a hurry. He lost his balance and drowned in the lake, it is said.

It's not the mistake of the person who lost his life, but the company who organizes this boat ride, they did not have any safety measures in place like life jackets etc. and they should have a plan in place to save all the passengers who are in the boat if the boat topples in case, so I blame 100% on the boat ride organizers. How can govt give permission to a unorganized company to do these boat rides?
