Bengaluru: D K Shivakumar admits links with Siddhartha - Dismisses notion this led to death

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 3: Former minister and Congress strongman D K Shivakumar, on Friday August 2, admitted that he did business with Siddhartha Hegde. He hastened to add that his dealings with Siddhartha had nothing to do with the Cafe Coffee Day founder's death.

Shivakumar said that like him, Siddhartha too was a businessman. "We had minor business transactions between us. But I refute the notion being created that his business association with me caused Siddhartha's death," he insisted.

Shivakumar said he and Siddhartha were friends for three decades and he shared a close bond with Siddhartha that was beyond the realms of business and friendship. "The bond between us was very strong and it will continue even after his unfortunate death. People who did not appreciate our strong bond have floated fake rumours," he analyzed.

Immediately after the information about Siddhartha Hegde going missing spread like wildfire on July 30, hinting that the entrepreneur would have died, Shivakumar had said in a tweet that he had got a call from Siddhartha seeking a meeting with him on July 28. He also had wondered how a brave man like Siddhartha could resort to such a measure.

Whilst striking a delicate balance between not speaking ill of dead and need to express the truth, I feel, our system is very poor in tolerating failure. CCD owner unfortunately, was not failure, but is a victim of greed and political connection. Coincidentally both Mallya and CCD Owner are from Karnataka, both are guilty of trying to expand too fast due to be dubious confidence and courage without ensuring that existing businesses are sustainable. I for one, wonder what population of Karnataka can afford Rs. 120 for a cup of coffee that he thought that CCD will be successful, when the same coffee is served in a street corner for Rs. 25.

Coincidence of timing is even more ominous.

DKS should also disclose the details of financial dealings between him and Siddhartha.

It has come in some reports that during raid of DKS, the IT dept found some murky dealings which proved costly to Siddhartha, specially with relation to foreign flow of funds.

    My dear Sir,

Govt is not helping entrepreneurs to come up. They themselves work hard. Money also govt does not provide even in the form of loan. If this is done by Govt there would be thousands of Siddarthas and Shivkumars would be found in India.

IT raids only when it comes to know that entrepreneur has money. Why it is not helping entrepreneurs who are under loss in business.

If they find unaccounted money and property they can tell them to pay tax for that with little fine. Their tax they get know. See how India lost entrepreneur.

I find ur argument shocking in a democratic state. You mean anybody can a as wealth in any illegal way and if caught pay nominal fine /tax?
Do you think Infy /TCS/Wipro all developed by illegal way?
Just because chaddiless from 1947 ruled for nearly 55 years with all cunning /dubious way you can't expect such treatment from all.
If u r genuine in ur business why you fear? Legal System is there
