Mangaluru: Bus hits road divider at Lalbagh – No causalities

Mangaluru, Aug 4: A passenger bus hit the road divider near Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) office on Sunday, August 4. 

As per reports, there were no causalities. 

The passenger bus hit the divider during the peak evening hours. The reason for the accident is not known. The vehicular traffic was affected for many minutes. 

The divider and an electric pole were damaged. The bus too had some damages. 

Police have registered a case.

    This is not the first time by PTC bus accident in Mangalore. If all are remembering last year near nanthur ptc bus banged into truck killing a women and even Bangalore Mangalore ptc bus met into accident at the same time. Looks like for ptc buses there is an order from owner to get more collections by going at high speed. Before taking drivers for action put the owner behind the bars.

    Hefty fine with all repair costs need to charged to the owner of the bus, without excuse. Don't spend tax payers hard earned money to cover the damage of public property. Both police and RTO dept. is responsible for a such a state of reckless driving in DK.

    This is absolutely disgraceful! What on earth was the driver trying to do - break the sound barrier? He should not be allowed to get away with it. I have seen buses at Bunt's Hostel running abreast of each other on what is undoubtedly not a broad road, and speeding together around a corner. The drivers appeared to be taking an almost childish pleasure in doing so and had pedestrians filled with dismay. It was a miracle out of scripture that there was no accident on the occasion.

    While the police work very hard to fine those who ride two-wheeler without helmets, and tow away vehicles parked in 'No Parking' zones, they would do far better to take cognizance of such flouting of the rules of the road and traffic safety!

    There are so many rogue drivers on the highway between Mangalore to Surathkal . Wild driving. Keeps on wild horning. Police & RTO has no guts to control them, because there is hidden obligations. Shame on these officials. This bus also belongs to this category. No rule is binding on them. I hope DC shall look in this.

    Get the bus owner to pay for all damages with hefty penalty. This is the only way these bus owners and drivers can learn lessons.

    It will not make any difference for him as he has the hieghest buses in Mangalore running around.
    Plus a very good friend of a big politician of Mnaglore so all case tuss .
    Cancel the permit & pt the bus for scrap without coverage of any insurance

    Is there any doubt or a rocket science as to why the frequency of bus related accidents are very high in Dakshin Kannada than in the rest of the State? In today's state of affairs, can't the regulators or officials address this issue with an iron hand?

    Answer is :
    1) Too much permitted issued by RTO.So competition in picking up passengers
    2) Un experienced drivers ,Illiterate ,Dont know traffic rules ,Cleaners conductors have got licensee by bribing RTO officers ,May be some don't have HVL.
    Polices have paid hafta so they are not bothered ..No fines ,Just case is registered ,There are lawyers who make these case pusk
    Most drivers are looked after BD & VHP hafta is given to these organization so something happens to driver immediately these goons come to help.
    Bus owners are not bothered because they get their collection.

    The simple answer is privatization comes at a cost. Put KSRTC and you will not have these issues.

    In such accidents where public property is damaged who is responsible for fixing it? Who pays for It? Within what time frame?

    I have seen that mostly the damaged street furniture is left to its fate. Nobody is bothered.
