Kundapur, Aug 5: After a lorry hit a two-wheeler from behind near the graveyard on national highway 66 at Koteshwar on the night of Sunday August 4, a young man was crushed to death. Another person was admitted into hospital with critical injuries.

The deceased was Vivek (25) from Gavali, Saligrama in Brahmavar taluk, who was working as manager of Pai Sales showroom at Kundapur. He was travelling on the pillion of a scooter that was being driven by Sharanraj (26), who happened to be Vivek's colleague. Sharanraj has been admitted into a private hospital at Koteshwar with serious injuries.

The two employees of Pai Sales were travelling in a scooter towards Udupi from here when a lorry that came from behind hit their vehicle, tossing both of them on the road. As the wheels of the truck moved over the body of Vivek immediately thereafter, his body below the waist was completely crushed.

The accident happened immediately after the people on the ill-fated scooter bought petrol from a service station and joined the highway after covering the service road.
