New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to modernise Parliament House on the completion of 75 years of independence in 2022.
Birla's request came as Parliament on Monday completed 92 years of its existence.
"The biggest temple of sovereign India, Parliament, has today completed its 92 years of existence. Biggest political decisions are taken from this temple...So, it is our expectation that Parliament building should be made most attractive and elegant," the Speaker said when the House started its proceedings for the day.
"We have to strive to make the parliament modern. I request the Prime Minister to equip Parliament with modern amenities on completion of 75th year of independence in 2022," he said.
