Home Minister is lying, we are locked up: Farooq

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference Chairman Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday lashed out at the Central government over scrapping of Article 370 and accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of lying about his situation.

"People are being locked up, (former Chief Minister) Omar Abdullah is in jail. We are not grenade-throwers or stone-pelters. My India is a democratic, secular India for all. We believe in peaceful resolution for change. This is undemocratic," Abdullah told reporters from the terrace of his house.

On the Central government's decision to scrap Article 370, he said that this is unconstitutional. "It is dictatorship by Modi government. We have never been the ones who want to separate nor do we want to separate from this nation. But, don't take away our honour and dignity... we are not slaves," he said.

"Dictatorial authority has been evoked and not a democratic one. I don't know how many have been arrested. Nobody is allowed to come in or go out, we are under house arrest," he said.

Abdullah said that the doors of his house have been closed and he can not move out.

"The HM is lying," he said in response of Amit Shah informed in the Parliament that "he has not been detained or arrested and is at his house at his own will".

Democratic process didn't work for 70 years in resolving the problems of Kashmir and the states political parties and leaders were milking the common Indian tax payers money without any benefits. Just look at the cost of security and defense of political leaders as well as lives that have been lost by our defense forces in last 7 decades. It's time for the alternative to get the problem solved once and for all and this government had the courage to take the first step in revoking the article 370. Now let these leaders keep chanting their usual mantra. Jai Hind...

Don't jump so high and don't be redeemer of Kashmir conflict. Nothing has changed in the ground, UN and UNSC regarding Kashmir issue. Amit Shah alone single handedly unanimously can not change UN resolution of 1948 on Kashmir. He has lied to international community in his briefing. But why he has to brief international community if he has total power over Kashmir. Is it Guilt???????/

So the Amarnath pilgrims were hurried back helter skelter and paying extra ticket price to return not for imminent terrorist threats but because of fall out on scrapping of Article 370. As BJP has briefed international community this scrapping of article is for development of the state and for job creation. How much of development BJP has done in BJP ruled states and how many jobs have been created?????. BJP can do all development and job creation with Article 370 still on but BJP wants to start its goondaraj in J&K. Now BJP has started fooling people internationally. As long as people are fooled internationally BJP will rule J&K with this false notion unopposed with EVMs which is totally undemocratic. Sooner the international community realizes it is better in order not to lose Kashmir.
