Kundapur, Aug 6: The incidents of cattle theft are increasing day by day despite the parade of the offenders that was held recently in the district. Eight cases of cow thefts have been reported in the last three months. In the latest incident, the culprits stole cattle in a public place at Gulvadi near Neralakatte in the taluk. This incident has took place on the late night of Monday, August 5. 

Raviraj Devadiga owns a Shamiyana shop at Gulvadi. He has fixed a CCTV camera in front of his shop and checks the footage religiously every day. Accordingly, he was checking the footage on Tuesday, August 6, when the incident of cattle theft has come to light. The incident took place at around 1.30 am.

As per the CCTV footage, two miscreants, who have covered their face with cloth, arrived to the spot opposite to the shop of Raviraj and tried to steal three cows that were sitting there. However, two cows escaped from the spot and one cow was taken by the thieves by tying a rope to it. 

Raviraj Devadiga has filed a complaint in this regard in Kundapur rural police station. As the cows were roaming in public place, it is not known as to who is the owner of the stolen cow.

The locals are frustrated with these kinds of repeated thefts and have expressed their rage against the thieves and urged the police to take strict action.
