Holidays apart, all these calamities are occurring due to huge population explosion; India will overtake China by 2025!
These landslides, flash floods, climatic change, sudden outbreaks of newer viral infections etc are occurring simply because of wanton cutting of forests, making artificial fields by slicing hills unscientifcally,
uncontrolled drilling of bores, mass concretization everwhere, development of highly polluting indistries, plastic waste, encroachment of sea, etc to accommodate & feed the ever-growing GREEDY population!

So, unless we control our population, all such calamities are bound to increase because the threshold point of manipulation of MOTHER NATURE has long been crossed and now is her turn to take REVENGE!! Future generation will have to face the wrath of NATURE Even more aggressively!

Even China has a much higher tree count than INDIA! They are managing their resources very efficiently with population control!

It is good that the district administration is declaring holiday for schools and colleges.
Whenever there is heavy rain, water-logging happens. Children cannot safeguard themselves in case of difficult situations like water overflowing in canals etc. No one can predict which school is located in a "safe zone". Blame the IMD, if it does not rain as it predicts. Nobody will forget IMD, which did not predict the heavy downpour in May 2018 in Mangalore and how much havoc it had wrought in a single day for all people in DK.

Holidays are declared mainly because there are many students who come from remote areas and have to walk a distance to catch buses. There are also many students coming to city colleges from these areas. It is good that the admin has taken preventive measures

Very appropriate decision. ...The holiday is given on basis of rivers flowing at danger mark.....not necessary that it rains near your house or mine....please understand! !

As I traveled from MANGALORE to Hiriyur today....I am shocked to see most of the coconut fields and aracknut fields filled with water. Crops destroyed....houses are in water. Every where rivers are over flowing. Four feet water can kill us. Precaution is better.....let us pray to almighty to save us from this deluge. Same in Mumbai and north Karnataka. Take care of your journey and specially children. We can't play with this type of situation. All of us has to be alert.

Same situation will increase each and every year. We cannot escape from it. Wants to face it. Even administration cannot able to do anything against nature's fury. There are many reasons behind it. We already occupied space of sea by building high rise skyscrappers. For that reason water making inways and flow to where ever according to it's interests. Low lying areas are now in dangerous.

It is now very clear that the weather forecast the administration is relying on is not reliable. Since last year if my guess is correct, there have been a dozen wasted holidays. This coupled with the upcoming holidays for festival season will put pressure on academics.

Secondly is it really necessary to have holiday for heavy rain ? We are not a city like Mumbai or Chennai
where flooding disrupts public transport. In Mangalore only a small minority of schools might suffer because of their location near rivers or flooding areas. Such schools can be identified and given holiday when there is real threat of heavy rains.

Rishi..we dont have offices, buildings, commercial complex etc etc.... except one college...one elementary school...if children stay at home means elders feel that day is a holiday..no tippu Jayanthi and all...next College is as kateel...damarskatte is a very tiny village...
