Udupi: Video of bus maneuvering dangerously in flood goes viral

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Aug 7: The roads in Udupi are flooded in many places, due to the heavy rains that are lashing the district since two days. People and the private bus drivers are putting their life at risk, by travelling on the flooded roads. A video of a bus being driven in a dangerous manner on a road which is completely inundated is currently doing rounds on social media.

The video has prompted many to voice out their concern, slamming Road Transport Authority for failing to keep a check on city buses plying without keeping safety in mind.

In the video it can be seen clearly that the lives of the driver and the passengers are in danger. The bus driven on flooded Petri-Kukkikatte road, is moving downwards on a slope at high speed. The locals have caught this dangerous and senseless act of the driver on the camera.

It is definitely not safe to travel in buses on such roads during heavy rains. But as this bus runs in a rural area, the people do not have any other choice.

Better to be slow than dead and injured. This Driver should be punished by DCP Mr Manjunath or Udupi Police Commissioner. He was driving on slope and if there was Mud Slide or Road Wash Off,how many lives would have been lost. I am along with other Citizens looking forward the action taken by RTO and TrafficPolice along with Commissioners of both Districs. Enough arrogant behavior of Bus Drivers.

People has to go to their destination. What to do.

Driver and conductor are also there in the bus. So why worry. They also need life. They take care of the people too.

    No sir ,Christine.
You are wrong according to me. These bus owners are not worried about anybody's life. They want to keep up the timing and collection. These drivers are scarred to their owners. If they really care their life and passengers , they should not take any risk.

If not for this bus, the people couldn't have done their necessary jobs at the other end of the road. probably, if there were daily wage workers, they would have lost a day's wage if the bus didn't make the trip.

    Hello guys.

First of all, the owner of the bus is The Conductor himself and the incident happened in my native. Nothing to worry, they know the route in-depth. They are doing their service from past 8-10 years in the same route.
