Udupi: Holiday declared for schools and colleges in district

Udupi, Aug 8: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Udupi district, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, has announced that there will be holiday for schools and colleges in the district on Friday, August 9. 

The holiday has been given due to heavy rains experienced in the district for the past few days. Rains still continue and it is likely to continue for next 48 hours. 

The DC had declared holidays for schools and colleges in the district on Wednesday and Thursday too. 

There is no holiday for schools and colleges in Dakshina Kannada district on August 9.

    But seriously our weather reporting by indian media is a joke. Weather predictions are highly inaccurate Only what is accepted by public these days is numerous power cuts per day by mescom...

    Good decision but after 12 th student are going to collage they also suffer form rain why not decralrd holiday to after pu student ....why....after 12th they don't fly and go to collage ....no rain too much form 2 days simply holidays given .what is rain in cm tell me?

    Good decision taken by Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati. These heavy rains with gusting winds were unpredictable and it was for the better for the students who would have gone out in this rains and get drenched . Prevention is better than cure.
