May be not a good decision. At some places these was absolutely not a single drop of rain for the full day, for instance on 08-08-19. The concerned schools and colleges should have been decided on holiday for rain.

    Albert Mathias, Saudi,
I don't agree with your foolish comment. I am on some assignment in India, it raining cats and dogs and I feel sorry for the school kids and all who are going through this weather.

    Dear Mr.Albert Mathais,
I believe that you are not aware of the weather situation in in Udupi and the neighboring areas. Otherwise you would not have commented like this.
There has been heavy rain in most parts of the district. Even though in a few isolated places it may have not rained, there is a big possibility of flooding everywhere due to the heavy rains all over. It is a very proactive move by the administration to declare holiday for schools as the kids are vulnerable and can be stranded on the way to and fro to school or at the school itself. Then there is a bigger situation at hand.
I also strongly propose that there should be a provision to reserve 10 - 15 days holidays for schools during the monsoons should the situation demand and the studies of the kids also does not get affected

Good decision taken by Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati. These heavy rains with gusting winds were unpredictable and it was for the better for the students who would have gone out in this rains and get drenched . Prevention is better than cure.
