Bengaluru, Aug 25: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has said that the state has incurred a loss of Rs 30,000 crore in the recent floods that affected 22 districts of the state. 

Speaking with the media after holding meeting with the officials of the central government team, which had come to the state to study the damage and destruction caused by the recent deluge, Yediyurappa said, "We have made sincere efforts to make the team from the Central government understand the reality of the damage and destruction caused by the recent floods," 

"The team from the Center is going to conduct study tour in the affected areas of the state in the next three days. 103 taluks of 22 districts are identified as flood-affected. 82 people and 992 cattle have lost their lives in the flood. 493 relief centers are opened and 2.19 lac people are staying in these centers. Crop over an area of 7.15 lac hectares is destroyed in the deluge. 7.5 lac houses are either partially or completely damaged," said Yediyurappa giving details of the damage. 

CM Yediyurappa further said, "Public and entrepreneurs are donating money and things beyond our expectations. The employees have contributed Rs 200 crore for the flood relief in the form of one day's salary. There is an expectation of collecting Rs 500 crore from the public and the entrepreneurs," 

"Central home minister and finance minister have visited the state during the deluge and have seen the destruction and damage themselves. In addition, they have sent a study team now to assess the damage. There is a possibility that the Center will release the funds as soon as the team sent by them submits the report. So there is no requirement of sending an all-party delegation from the state," said Yediyurappa. 

Giving the plan of flood relief, the chief minister said, "I have convinced home minister Amit Shah on Saturday about the extent of loss incurred by the state in the recent deluge. The Central government is going to release the funds, once the study team submits its report after surveying the affected areas. There is a possibility to get more relief as per our expectations. The money from the developmental schemes will be transferred towards the rehabilitation work of the affected victims and the work will be completed in a year's time."
