Mangaluru: Excise officials seize Rs 20.33 lac cash - Two arrested

Mangaluru, Aug 25: The officials of the excise department confiscated a total amount of Rs 20, 33,750 in cash in two separate incidents. Two people were arrested in this connection. 

In the first incident a person who was travelling by bus was arrested by the excise squad on Saturday, August 24 for carrying Rs 12,53,750 cash without any supporting documents. The person arrested in this connection is Ahmed Dilshan (21), a resident of Kumble Koyippadi in the district of Kasargod in the state of Kerala. He was handed over to the Manjeshwar police for further investigation. 

Ahmed Dilshan was travelling from Mangaluru to Kasaragod by KSRTC bus. He was sitting on the back seat of the bus and carrying the money in a plastic bag. On inquiry, the accused said that he was taking the money from Thokkottu to be handed over to a jewellery shop in Kumble of Kasargod. More details are awaited. 

In another incident, the excise officials seized Rs 7.8 lac unaccounted cash that was being transported in a scooter. Allanguliya Abdul Sayyed (40), a resident of Taliparamba was arrested in this connection. This occurred on the night of Saturday, August 24. The excise officials unearthed this amount when they stopped the scooter for checking at Perla check post. The scooter arrived at the check post from Vittal. The arrested person was handed over to the Badiyadka police station for further investigation.

    Are they checking each and everyone travelling in bus too?What method is it like communists.R we not free to carry money for a event without details?Or these people were arrested by someones tip?

    Try to leave your country with More than 5000 Euro or the US with 10K $- you are questioned
