Byndoor, Aug 26: In an incident that occurred in the taluk, two people, who were transporting buffaloes in a Mahindra pick up vehicle were arrested and the cattle rescued.
The arrested are identified as Manjunatha Naika (65), son of Narayana Naika, a resident of Sarpanakatte Yelawadi Core in Bhatkal and Ratnakara Poojary (20), son of Heriya Poojary, a resident of Bjeri of Bijoor village of Byndoor taluk.
The Bolero pick up was transporting the buffaloes in an inhuman manner on NH 66 from Kambadakone to Bhatkal. The vehicle was stopped at Yedthare junction by Byndoor SI Thimmesh and personnel of his team. When they checked the body of the pick-up, they found two buffaloes which were tied in an inhumane manner and were left to suffocate without providing them fodder or water.
The value of these buffaloes is said to be Rs 55,000. The value of Mahindra pick up is said to be Rs. four lac as per the information given by the police.
A case in this regard is registered at Byndoor police station.
